Spring is here, which means time to garden! Also time for the Strawberry Festival, which I had on my mind when I did this girl’s outfit.¬†ūüôā

Doesn’t Like Weddings

11 01 2017

I like¬†this putting-a-drawing-onto-a-photo thing. This time intended to draw a lady with fire hair and ended up with a … displeased bridesmaid? I totally feel the same about weddings.

Snow Bubbles

31 12 2016

Sometimes in Florida they get a bubble machine to sub for snow…¬† southern improvisation. And somehow that generated the idea for this pic. Happy New Year!

Faire Peeps Pt.4

5 04 2016

This guy was so 90s punk, I just had to draw him. Sort of proud of that plaid shirt even though up close it’s sloppy.

Faire Peeps Pt.1

22 03 2016

The Medieval Faire is a great place for street photography. Decided to do some digital portraits of some of the folks at this year’s.¬†Part 1: Adorable Old Man with Cute Owl.

Try an Apple

Try an Apple

More practice with lineless art. Hard! … And I just realized the color looks totally different here than in Photoshop!¬†I don’t know how everyone does it; it takes me forever and still looks sloppy. Also not liking my attempt at a background above. The struggle is real. I saved a version below I added final details with black and like it much better.

Aira

Aira

More tablet experimentation – I am probably like one of 5 Americans that have seen Green Legend Ran, but I remember thinking it was pretty awesome as a kid. They had these alien-worshiping bishops that started turning into plants. This is¬†a quick take on Aira, Ran’s “silver-haired maiden” counterpart.¬† Anyhow, I’m playing around with how to turn¬†a scanned traditional sketch into digital tablet art.

Aira sketchThis was the original sketch. Annoyingly you can’t delete or really erase the background layer in Photoshop, which is what anything you scan opens as. But you can make a duplicate layer from the background and alter that and¬†paint white over the original to hide it¬†– ta da!

This was about a 3 minute digital overlay of part of the original sketch below. Being able to color without a mouse is a dream!
