Travels for Art

Florida has no end of cool artsy things. Last month in Amelia Island, spotted these decorations through the window of a bookstore:

At first I thought they were Ikea lamps, but no – they’re globes made out of fortune tellers! Grade school stuff!
Fortune tellers! Brilliant idea.

Then on my recent trip to St. Pete:
Guess what these are....arm bands!

Guess what these are….arm bands!

I thought they were strands of origami cranes from far away, when actually they’re admission arm bands to:

Mysterious, gloomy model...?

This set up was my favorite. The mannequin-model sits in this vintage car with water streaming down the insides of the windows. Then you round the car and see that the driver is:

But there’s also so much art in the natural world..
Love me some banyan trees.

Love me some banyan trees.

Speaking of trees, I found a brand new kind. At least, new to me:

And no, these aren’t just a few blooms on the tree. The entire tree is composed of brilliant red flowers, no leaves! What IS this tree?!

I’m in love with it. So are these black birds… grackels? They were all over it.
